I work nights. So my morning is everybody else's bedtime.
(a small laugh)
For a long time I just wanted something hot. Anything. Didn't matter what.
She looks down at the mug. Steam rises.
Then my sister left a bag of Harbor Roast on my counter. With a note. It said, try it before you judge it.
(beat, honest)
Fine. I tried it.
She takes a sip. Her shoulders drop.
It's smooth. Not bitter. It tastes like somebody actually cared about the beans.
(quieter)
Now it's the part of the day I keep for me.
Close on the Harbor Roast bag on the counter. Sunrise fills the window.
